- I don’t understand how people can be shocked by Canada’s loss to the Swiss. Do people not pay attention? The Swiss had already beaten the Czechs earlier. The same Czechs that beat Canada filled with NHL-locked out players in the 2005 worlds. The same Czechs that should’ve won the semis in the 2004 world cup (Thanks to Lecavalier and Luongo for coming thru in the clutch). Not to mention, the Czechs did win in Nagano and were world champs from 99-01. Yes, I do realize there's no such thing as match up algebra (A beats B. B beats C. Therefore C beats A.)
- Dear Jabronis. Hockey is not an individual sport. It is a team sport. Case in point: 1980. Lake Placid. The Soviet hockey machine. Ragtag group of U.S. hockey players. Guess who won that one. No team should be taken lightly. Just ask Sweden back in Salt Lake.
- After watching a ‘cabbie on the street’ segment, skeleton is a pretty crazy sport if you think about it. You’re sliding down an ice track at around 100 km/hr. The sled is thin and you going head first in the prone position. The second you lift your shoulders, you going to crash…..at 100 km/hour. Crazy. But apparently, it's the safest sliding sport (versus luge and bobsled). Go Figure.
