Eating out
I went to Toshi (Near the corner of 16th and main) this past Friday. For the record, I never really enjoyed sashimi until I came to this place. The fish was probably fresher than most places because it certainly tasted like it. Everything else (sushi, eggplant, fish, tempura, etc.) was of exceptional quality. The only drawback: portions were smaller than average. Otherwise, I’d have to say this place has become my favorite Japanese restaurant.
On Saturday, I went to the Pan Pacific hotel (on the waterfront) for e-ball. High quality dinner but not quite as good Toshi. Carrot soup infused with ginger and orange. Baby spinach salad with some kind of honey dressing. Chicken breast with exotic sounding herbs and spices. Crème Brulee. Never had Crème Brulee until that day. good good. The musical choices (ie, Foo Fighters, Gun n Roses, Led Zeppelin) for the dance were dubious at best. Overall, I don’t think e-ball was worth 50 bucks, but it is my last year so oh well. Then again, I did skip post-eball drinking because I didn’t want to sleep in my suit.
