MMA musings

One of the big things that people just don't grasp about MMA is the supreme cardiovascular condition that top fighters are in. All of the skillz in the world aren't going to help you with you're dead exhausted; an analogy would be putting the best driver in a really shitty car. My recent foray into grappling and watching UFC All Access with Sean Sherk has really drove home this point. Not to mention, getting kneed in the face by a maniac like Wanderlei Silva isn't going to help your stamina either

And conditioning for MMA and grappling is different from something such as training for a long distance running. MMA and grappling matches are usually spurts of wild sprinting followed by short rest intervals. It's kind of stupid to go for 60 minute runs when your MMA match isn't going to last more than 15 minutes.
