An interview with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

TJ: Now speaking of sex and training, I’ve heard of a lot of fighters talk about how they’ll cut themselves off months. Uh, I think Rickson Gracie cuts himself off 2 months before a fight. No sex at all. Do you follow those guidelines at all?

Mike: Maybe that explains why that dude hasn’t fought in a while

(laughter)

Rampage: man. Hell n… aw no. I don’t cut myself off…..did he say 2 months? DID HE SAY 2 MONTHS?

TJ & Mike: 2 months

Rampage: aw hell. And Rickson Gracie said that?

TJ & Mike: Yeah

Rampage: Who the hell is he fighting that he gotta stop for 2 months?

(laughter)


Rampage: Old people….I took some pictures with old ladies after my K-1 fight and shit. And one of them grabbed my ass and the other said I had a nice chest in Japanese [laughter].

I guess she thought I didn’t understand a little Japanese. I get around with a lil’ Japanese. I dated a lot of them Japanese girls and they teach some stuff. Y’know what I’m saying, these ladies had to be 60 or 70 years old. Old ladies want to take pictures and call me “jackson jackson” and grabbin’ my ass.


Mike: The word I heard most often the last time I was there was “gai-jin”

Rampage: ah gai-jin. They call you that. Oh yeah. You know what, I ain’t gonna lie, I don’t think Japanese people, the older people there they don’t like the white folks too much.


Rampage: My job is not uh to win or lose. Y’know what I’m saying? When you’re a fighter. Your job is to go out there and entertain. I wanna win all of my fights, but it’s not gonna go that way all of the time. So I just want to entertain the fans and shit and give them shit they’ve never seen before, so that’s my job.


Rampage: If Pride don’t give me a fight soon with Matsui, I think one day I might just fuckin’ walk up him and bitch smack him for the hell of it.


Rampage: [Talking about his son] It’s kinda confusing. Sometimes he talking about uh he a Chuck Liddell fan, but he talking about he can’t wait till he get older so he can knock Chuck out.



Rampage: I’m a black guy in Orange County, there ain’t too many of us walking around. I see white folks staring at me and shit, I get kind of nervous. ‘Cuz I’m from the south man and they still be hanging us back there man.
