Musings

- Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance. This was totally different from what I expected: a standalone film updating the original with new CG. Instead it's a remake and the second film of the tetralogy. Personally, it was a strange viewing experience because I watched the original alone 6.5 years ago and the experience was akin to meeting friends I hadn't seen in a very long time. It's a film I'd have to watch again as it was a lot to absorb. That said, I was a tad disappointed as the plot seemed to be less coherent and the conclusion wasn't as good as the original episode that it aped (One of my favorite episodes). Maybe it'll be better on second viewing.

I should have stayed for the credits as I missed the post-credits scene.

- The King's Speech. During the film, I realized this film was 'My Fair Lady' in reverse minus the extra 40 minutes that drags the film down. I was amazed that an entire film could be made on a subject with such limited breadth. Excellent film.

- It's comical how little I understand my Korean boxing coach's english. Here are his 3 favorite phrases.

1) HARDER
2) BEDDA JAB
3) OH MY GOD (in response to anyone not hitting the focus mitts hard enough)

I'm heading for West Carolina

Female coworker: Someone was making fun of me for not knowing there was no South Virginia. 'I'm sorry I'm not good at geology'.

To this person's credit, she at least acknowledges that she isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.
